The Juniors event will take place on Saturday 27th January at 2pm, and the Seniors on Sunday 28th January at 2pm. This year’s competitions will take place over a single round on each day, after which the adjudicators will pick a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each class. The order of performance will be chosen by draw on the day of the competition, and competitors will be notified of the order on their arrival at the EAC.

The winners of both the Junior and Senior competitions will receive a £150 cash prize, the Young Singer or Junior Singer of Mann trophy (which they hold until the next competition), and an additional trophy which they keep. All trophies are kindly provided by the IOM Arts Council.

The singers who take 2nd place will each be awarded a £100 cash prize. The singers who take 3rd place will each be awarded a £50 cash prize. All cash prizes are kindly provided by The Malcolm Dickinson Trust. All performers will receive a Young Singer of Mann certificate.

The adjudicators’ copy will only be required on the day of the competition and both copies will be returned. Please ensure that each song is clearly marked with the competitor’s name.

The adjudicators will be looking for the following qualities from competitors:

Musicality: Musical sensitivity and expressive power, plus the ability to interpret a song with an appropriate sense of stvle

Performance: The way in which the competitor communicates their performance – how they stand, sit or interact with the audience.
