Friday Film Club opens the doors to Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, one of the most original and exhilarating films of 2025. Set in 1932, what appears to be a social drama soon becomes something much darker. 

Identical twins Smoke and Stack return to their hometown  of Clarksdale, Mississippi after spending time in Chicago, Illinois. They have amassed a considerable sum of money working for the mob there and make a deal with a local Clarksdale landowner to purchase an abandoned sawmill and turn it into a juke joint. Things seem to be going to plan until they discover a terrible evil is waiting in the wings. Michael B Jordan is impressive as both brothers, ably supported by  Hailee Steinfeld, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Delroy Lindo and newcomer Miles Caton. 

Sinners is a breathtaking fusion of period drama, social politics, character study, scintillating romance, and full-on horror, all pushed to the max on 65mm film. From Dusk till Dawn anyone? A total must see for film buffs and horror fans.
