The Mananan International Festivals, established in 1975, are among the Isle of Man's most prestigious cultural events, and rank among the finest festivals in the British Isles. The Main Festival is held during the last 2 weeks of June with an event every evening and sometimes during daytimes. The Opera Festival is held every September and includes a live opera. For a small fee, you can become a Friend of the Mananan Festival. Joing the Friends entitles you to priority booking for all Festival events. The June 2020 Mananan and Opera Festivals have been cancelled but the artistes have all agreed to come in 2021. The 2021 Mananan line-up is below and the 2021 opera will be Cosi Fan Tutte by Mozart. She had been Patron since 1987. Previous Patrons have been Sir John Betjeman (1977-1987) and the Earl of Harewood (1984-1986). The present patron is the distinguished pianist Stephen Hough.
