film group

The Erin Arts Club Film Group was founded in 2002 with the aim of promoting film as an art form, a medium of information and for education. It also aims to show films that have cultural, technical or artistic merit, and 'revivals' from throughout the history of cinema, which, owing to their age, lack of appeal to the general public or for any other reason, would not normally be available in a commercial cinema. The range covers acclaimed foreign-language films, recent films and many that have been made in the Isle of Man.

The Film Society Movement
The Film Society Movement in the British Isles comprises over 200 societies such as ours, and caters for the cinematic needs of 55,000 people. Members consider film to be an art form and enjoy seeing classics from the past as well as a wide range of contemporary works from all over the world. These films seldom reach commercial screens or television and Film Societies can be said to perform a useful function in spreading the availability of the best of cinema, past and present.

Facilities
Our screenings at the Erin Arts Centre are in comfortable surroundings and are projected in either DVD, Laser or Video format.

Refreshments
Tea, coffee, soft drinks and wine are available before each film and Harry's Bar is open for evening performances.

The Erin Arts Centre is very grateful for the support of the Isle of Man Film Commission.
