On a hot, summer day in August 1970, John Bethell and Mrs Sue Bowring were sunning themselves in the back garden of 'Chatsworth' in Bay View Road. Cocking a soporific eye at the chapel, Mrs Bowring, with spectacular prescience, murmured: "Wouldn't that make a lovely arts centre?" *
